Everything is better decorated.

Hello everyone!
The title of this post pretty much sums up my personal view of everything! If you know me well, nothing I have is either plain or boring, everything needs to have little added extras or pretty patterns. My living room is an array of bunting, origami, cake stands and patchwork quilts.
I treat my body with the same respect (to some people's disappointment :( ).
Above is the new addition to my body, a lovely antique sewing machine with a 'time' theme. The saying is an old saying that my Grandma lives by. That and 'once it's gone it's gone' and 'if I have it you can have it'. When I was younger I used to roll my eyes to such silly sayings, but now I find myself saying these things all the time! My love for sewing and this saying inspired this tattoo. As I am going to be a teacher, I have chosen a place that I can hide easily on the inside of my arm.

What are your inspirations? What tattoos do you have?

I hope everybody is having a lovely Tuesday.

Currently.

Loving: Family. I saw a lot of my family this weekend and enjoyed it so much. I sometimes wish that I lived closer to them all, but love Leeds far too much to move back. Plus the fact that Northwich is a place that, if you live there you will definitely never leave! It was lovely eating and drinking lots with the people I care about most.

Reading: Everything!! I have been reading so much lately. I seem to go through phases where I read loads of books and then I won't for six months. I have recently read the 50 Shades trilogy (embarrassingly). I was so curious what all the 'hype' was about, as soon as I put them down I wanted to start reading again! The written content was questionable, I even found spelling mistakes, but the story line was so engaging. After finishing the books in 6 days (I know ha, I think I have too much time on my hands), I started reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, recommended by Danielle from Sometimes Sweet. It is a roller coaster of emotions from start to finish.  She has written a fantastic review, so go and read it there.

Watching: I love my t.v series and it ranges from Gossip Girl, to the I.T crowd to Dexter! At the moment, me and Dave are pretty much glued to Sons of Anarchy mentioned here. I have also just finished watching  Beaver Falls, a British comedy involving three boys, just graduated from Oxford Brookes who work for a summer in 'camp america' Beaver Falls. It is a mixture of drunken, embarrassing and funny times. If you get chance to watch it, do so because the new series is coming out soon.

Thinking about: the future. The big, vast scary thing that is the future. I have recently just graduated and I am thinking about all the different roads I can take. I have graduated in Primary Education and do eventually want to become a primary school teacher. However, it is not as easy as said, so from september I will be a one to one support worker at a lovely little primary school.

Anticipating: September! Starting a new job is exciting yet so nerve-racking!

Listening to: I am going to Hevy music festival this weekend and I am so excited! So I am listening to a lot of the bands that are playing that. So Glassjaw, Hundred Reasons, Trapped Under Ice, Lemuria, This is Hell, Pianos Become the Teeth, Last Witness and lots more.

Working on: Lots of little craft projects. Well actually, finishing lots of little craft projects I started yonks ago but never finished. More pictures/posts when they become more completed.

Wishing:
that this lovely British Weather will hold out for the weekend. Do not want a repeat of flooded tent and soggy shoes from last year. I'm sure if I drink enough cider I can forget about the rain and mud!

Thank you to Danielle from SomtimesSweet for giving me the idea for this post!

Something old, Something new..

I love a bargain and I love having a good rummage around the bargain boxes at the antique shop around the corner from my house. They sell everything from books, bread bins and bric a brac to doors, jewelry and Singer sewing machines. Last week, I had my usual root around the 50p boxes when I came across some little treasures. I love to find item's that look a little scruffy, old and well used/loved by somebody long ago.

I decided to buy four books;

The Poems of Samuel Taylor Coleridge,
The Greeks by H. D. F. Kitto,
The Wandering Scholars by Helen Waddell,
The Complete Poems of Rupert Brooke.

Each of these books are very well used, with notations and battered covers, but they were all 50p so I wasn't too fussed. I thought they would make a nice addition to my book case. I actually looked on ebay and the two penguin books are worth a good twenty pounds each! Should I sell them? I don't know whether I can let them go.

This illustration sold it to me straight away...

Look at the little notes,  it shows that this book was loved.
The books had so many little notes and bookmarks left in them.

Even a name!

This picture is covered by a thin sheet of tissue paper, I wish books were like this now.

Hope you have enjoyed my finds!

With Arms Outstretched...

I am back from my short little trip to my parents house in Northwich. The wedding was lovely and the bride looked beautiful! Are there any brides that don't look beautiful?
The wedding was in a church in St Helens and all my Dad's side of the family were there, it was so great to see them all because we all live so far apart. Here are some pictures;

I'm afraid the photos aren't very clear, had to use my phone camera.

Left: Cute handmade order of service.
Right: The happy couple; Andy and Karen.

Brother & Mum.
Me & my cousin Euan.
Me & lovely Claire

While I was sat there during the ceremony I was thinking about how simple words like 'I Do' can change a person(s) life but how beautiful those two simple words are when said with true love and tears in their eyes. My parents have been married for nearly 30 years and I have always thought, wow, that is SO long and how do they put up with each other. However, when you see them together, you can tell they are just in love as they were when they were my age and younger. Just a little thought!
Hope you have had a good weekend.

Fresh as a daisy...

Hi there, I have decided to start a fresh new blog. I have just graduated from University and have got the summer holidays to spend festivalling, crafting, sewing, reading and doing all the things I love before I am a grown up in September as a one to one support worker. I will keep all of my photographs here and try not to bore you too much!

The picture above is the dress I accessorised for my graduation ball. It is just a cheap dress from primark for £15. I then attached the collar and each individual bead around the collar at the back and over a hundred around the trim. I must admit, half way through I was about to give up, but I kept thinking the end product of a pretty dress way more important!

Me and David at Graduation Ball.
One last thing, I have recently been a bit of coach potato. I get so easily addicted to t.v shows and Sons of Anarchy has been the top of my watching list.If you like Boardwalk Empire/Prison Break/The Wire then i'm sure that you will LOVE this. The show follows a motorcycle club that operates both illegal and legal businesses in a small town called Charming. They combine gun-running and a garage. Clay, the president, likes it old school and violent; while Jax, his stepson and the club's VP, has thoughts about changing the way things are, based on his dead father's journal. Their conflict has effects on both the club and their personal relationships. This is a quick rundown without giving too much away!

Got an exciting couple of days coming up. Heading home to see my parents tonight and going to my Uncle's wedding tomorrow. Pictures and probably embarrassing stories to follow.
